Heather Locklear heads to rehab after domestic violence arrest
Heather Locklear is reportedly seeking treatment in a rehab facility weeks after a domestic dispute with her boyfriend landed her in handcuffs.
The “Melrose Place” actress is “getting the help she finally needs” after years of substance abuse problems, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Locklear’s decision to seek help comes on the heels of a Feb. 25 arrest at her California home, for which she was booked on suspicion of felony domestic violence and three counts of misdemeanor battery on a police officer.
The actress was busted after authorities responded to a domestic violence call reportedly phoned in by her brother, and found her boyfriend with a “traumatic” injury.
Locklear resisted arrest, and was also booked for allegedly pushing and kicking the deputies.
Her stint in rehab was reportedly heavily encouraged by her daughter Ava, 20, whom she shares with ex-husband Richie Sambora.

“Ava begged her mom to go to rehab,” a source told ET. “(She) wants her mother to get clean and sober once and for all… Her family feels like she needs to cut herself off from some ‘not so healthy’ friends and start a cleaner life.”
Still, the source said Locklear isn’t totally convinced she has a problem, and instead thinks the whole mess is a “mistake” to be blamed on her brother and boyfriend Chris Heisser.
TMZ reported Tuesday that police believed Locklear may have been armed during the altercation, as they searched her home for a gun after the arrest to no avail.
Heisser, meanwhile, was arrested for a DUI hours after Locklear was busted, according to TMZ.
Reps for Locklear did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
