Actor Justin Theroux, fresh off a breakup with Jennifer Aniston, is facing more domestic drama — an irate neighbor who says the star “should watch his language.”
The long-running property boundary battle between “The Leftovers” star and attorney Norman Resnicow escalated in new court papers that revealed just how nasty the case has become.
“Justin Theroux describes my conduct as ‘patently creepy,’ ‘peculiar,’ ‘strange,’ and ‘inexplicable,’” Resnicow, 70, said in an affidavit filed Friday in Manhattan Supreme Court.
“That young man should watch his language.”
Theroux, 46, filed suit in May against Resnicow, charging that the downstairs neighbor was wrongly demanding $ 30,000 in soundproofing and had ruined ivy along exterior walls in the Greenwich Village co-op building.
The actor also said Resnicow was trespassing on his property and spying on him. Theroux submitted photos of Resnicow in his pajamas, allegedly hassling workers renovating his roof deck.
Resnicow countered that Theroux neglected his dogs. The lawyer also charged that water leaks from Theroux’s portion of the roof terrace caused a toxic “mold infestation.”
“Theroux remained blithely unconcerned throughout that years-long ordeal. My wife and I could choke on mold as far as he was concerned,” Resnicow said. “I am still on twice-daily doses of an expensive steroid inhaler.”
Resnicow also said that he learned in early 2016 that Theroux’s balcony and staircase leading from the actor’s apartment to his portion of the roof terrace were “heavily deteriorated.”
“Theroux dismisses my concern about the condition of the balcony and stairs as ‘hysteria.’ I say: Go ahead, Justin. You live under that “unstable hunk of metal,” Resnicow said.
Theroux seeks a judge’s order barring Resnicow from setting foot on his property. He and Aniston issued a statement on Feb. 15 announcing that after seven years together they were separating.
“We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship,” the couple said.
Resnicow dismissed reports that tensions between him and Theroux affected the actor’s relationship with Aniston.
“Justin pushing her to be in his smallish, dark, no-doorman apartment was not decent. It’s a great little building with good people, but it’s totally not for Jennifer,” he said.
“Everybody knows Jennifer hated the place.”
A spokeswoman for the actor dismissed the latest allegations from his neighbor.
“Resnicow’s bizarre comments might carry more weight had he ever actually met Jen or toured Justin’s apartment, neither of which has ever happened,” Theroux’s spokeswoman said.
“The leaks and conditions of which Resnicow complains are a building issue. Justin’s deck and apartment had nothing to do with those claimed issues and Resnicow knows it.”
