Cheech and Chong Just Challenged Jeff Sessions to Stop Blowing Smoke Up His Ass

Here’s a shocker for you: Both Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong of comedic weed-smoking fame think that marijuana should be fully legal in the United States.

“It’s medicine,” said Chong during a new interview with TODAY weatherman Al Roker. “Regulations, really, it doesn’t matter. Don’t put you in a jail for doing it. Leave us alone.”

Chong went to jail back in 2003 for “conspiring to distribute drug paraphernalia”—i.e. selling bongs. And of course, Cheech and Chong made a career out of getting high and making jokes; their iconic pot movie Up in Smoke just celebrated its 40th anniversary. So, it’s personal. Against a backdrop of recreational marijuana being fully legalized in Canada and nine U.S. states, the duo went after Jeff Sessions, whose vendetta against weed is racist and ill-informed.

“It can be sold and you get tax money that goes for our schools and fire departments. Come on, bring it, Jeff,” Cheech said.

Chong was even more direct: “My message to Jeff, Jeff Sessions: Instead of having the smoke blowing up your ass, try inhaling it.”

That got Roker giggling.

Cheech and Chong were talking with Roker for Roker’s new online show Cold Cuts, in which he interviews celebrities while making deluxe sandwiches. Sure. Chong called his sandwich the Prison Special. Munchies jokes were made. And we can safely assume that Roker is not a weed smoker himself. Maybe if it’s legalized…
