If This Cat Can Get Through This Car Ride, You Can Get Through 2018

As you slide into Memorial Day, you may be thinking, “I really need this three day weekend.” That’s relatable. The world is moving fast these days. With all the intense headlines, shifting politics, and intense headlines about shifting politics, it’s exhausting out there.
But just when you think that you’ve had a hard 2018, a cat comes along, clinging for dear life to the top of a van.

In Omaha, Rebel (the Daniel Craig of the cat community) clung onto the top of a van going 60 miles per hour down the interstate. For curiosity? No, that’s a cliché joke. He was clearly doing it to feel alive. Passerbys saw the cat and did what any responsible human would do: record it and send it to the media.
Oh, and they honked until the van pulled over. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the original video:
Look at him up there, crushing it. In reality, Rebel was probably scared out of his mind because he’s just a cat trying to get through this world like us. Probably crawled up there to get a nice sun nap in, and then all of a sudden, he’s in the middle of a low budget Liam Neeson movie. As the video went viral, Omaha’s ABC affiliate was able to catch up with the cat’s owner, Michelle Criger, who said, “When I got him off the roof of the van, he wasn’t scared at all. He wasn’t shaking. He wasn’t heart-racing. Nothing.”

Oh, was he not, Michelle? Because it looks like he’s about to ralph Fancy Feast all over the freeway. End of the day, the most important tidbit is that Rebel, who is looking to formally change his name to “Not Today, I’ll Just Lay Here,” is doing well after his two-mile venture as the most windblown cat of all time.
It all goes to show, if Rebel can make it through a bit of Nebraska interstate car surfing, then you can make it through this year.
