US Open 2018: Roger Federer cruises to first round win over Yoshihito Nishioka
ROGER Federer’s US Open campaign got off to the perfect start Wednesday (AEST), as the No.2 seed dispatched of his first round opponent Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4.
Without a Slam win at Flushing Meadows since 2008; the Swiss maestro will be hoping this is a sign of things to come, despite a difficult draw.
Federer will play Benoit Paire in the second round — with a potential third round showdown looming with Australian Nick Kyrgios.
Lucky enough to get a night match during what has been a sweltering US Open thus far, Federer’s one hour, 53-minute demolition job stands him in good stead for a deep run at the tournament.
More to come!
